It just shows that customers are treated with no service it is hardly an archaic product! That driver IS the one I have installed so I will just have to get an agp card as unless she wants to use linux she is not likely to , then I will go down that route. What resolution do you have now? I am afraid that for windows it is going to have to be an agp card. Thanks for all your help much appreciated! Ah well, it is the luck of the draw I am afraid. K9M will NOT cope with x resolution as it is not listed!

It is my girlfriends pc.
It amazes me that support is just negligent. I am on xp sp2. I’ve assumed SIS is some kind of Linux driver. The frame buffer is set to 64MB it cannot be altered only the aperture size. Can you give some more info on it, please. I know what I will k8,800 to do and that is get an agp graphics card.
I could modify the registry but I am not going to risk that! What resolution do you have now?
What annoys me is that an mxi like puppy linux can use it but windows cannot. It is just the standard resolutions of CRTs. If I could get her to use puppy linux I would but she is a woman who thinks windows is a pc Bas, you posted before I replied, and pretty much covered it. It mwi simply a driver issue and I cannot believe MSI will not update it to accommodate these resolutions!
K8MM-V (VIA K8MCE +VTR Chipset) motherboard (Quesion about Winbond
I have never heard or read anything anywhere that these two rival manufacturers would develop chipsets and modify drivers for each other. OK, lets clear a few things up. Linux does the same in lot of cases. I have the very latest bios installed 3. I am ok with linux I cannot ecpect my girlfriend to be so it is windows xp or nothing.
MSI K8MM-V – motherboard – micro ATX – Socket 754 – K8M800 Series
It suggests MSI do not care about this mobo anymore and will never release an updated bios or device driver. Might this driver work, but you use it on your risk: K9M will NOT cope with x resolution as it is not listed!
Does Va drivers come with a tray application?? VIA are as bad to say the least – why cannot they use the unichrome driver vsn 3 by SIS and patch it accordingly?
I will have a look if that is the driver that risky link but i am pretty ceratin I did use the latest but if it is not i will try thanks. It certainly is NOT a bios issue as I mmsi puppy linux 3. Has anybody got past this issue?
BIOS lists all the possible resolutions standards normally: Home Help Search Login Register. I am afraid that for windows it is going to have to be an agp card. That driver IS the one I have installed so I will just have to get an agp card as unless she wants to use iva she is not likely tothen I will go down that route.
MSI K8MM-V – motherboard – micro ATX – Socket – K8M Overview – CNET
Thanks for all your help much appreciated! MSI may apply some modifications ie branding, extra features but the core system driver is built by, in this case, VIA. So job done – again thanks for your help but the inherent cia of these old onboard VIA chipsets lacking support forced me down this route and at that price I am not complaining!
A cheap AGP card it is then.
